Adesh and Sadanand
Adesh and Sadanand offer beautiful, improvisational creations on sitar and tabla in Indian classical style.
Adesh has been performing Sri Chinmoy's melodies on sitar for over 20 years in concerts all over the world. In learning the sitar, Adesh spent much of the late 1970's and early eighties in India and Sri Lanka learning the nuances of Indian classical music. Adesh's style is very introspective; the listener is led into the spontaneous flow of meditation. His classical Indian interpretation fuses the exotic rhythms of ancient India with Sri Chinmoy's haunting melodies. He often is accompanied on tabla by his wife Ajita in concert, and also by his daughters Anupama and Bandhavi on flute and violin.
Since 2008, Adesh (who lives in Switzerland) has been regularly performing with Sadanand Magee from Ireland. Sadanand is something of a Songs of the Soul fixture, having performed in almost every concert since the series began in 2008. Most recently, the two performed together during a Songs of the Soul tour of Guatemala, including the open-air concert in Antigua shown in the photo above.
