Shamita and Bhoiravi Achenbach

Shamita and Bhoiravi come from Vienna, the city of Mozart, and play Sri Chinmoy's melodies with virtuoso classical flair on cello and violin.

Shamita is an accomplished cellist who has appeared with the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Symphony and the Vienna Bach Soloists. She has toured with the female ensemble Mountain Silence in Europe, America and the Far East. In 2005, Shamita set a Guinness World Record at the Impossibility Challenger Games in Munich by playing the cello for 24 hours.

She plays here Bhoiravi, who began her violin lessons at the age of 7 years. Soon after she entered the Vienna Music University,followed by her debut with the Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra in the Czech Republic at the age of 14. This was followed by concerts in Europe, Ukraine, USA and Asia. She is currently studying in Salzburg, Austria at the Mozarteum.

Shamita and Bhoiravi are frequent performers in Songs of the Soul, and have played together in concerts in the USA and Europe. Bhoiravi also performed solo in the August 2009 New York concert, and the entire family (including father Dohai) performed in August 2010. Bhoiravi also play with Agnikana's Group, which feature frequently in Songs of the Soul concerts.
